PAST SHOWS AND PERFORMANCES:

Violence in Motion (2012)
(Portions of VIM have been performed at The Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance and CBGB.) Violence in Motion Is a multi-media performance piece that focuses on an individual’s reaction as well as the publics’ inaction to specific forms of interpersonal violence on or around the NYC transit system. Can a young woman aid in diverting an attack on a young man by other men? How does a mother intervene in a sexual assault while traveling with her daughter? Can a trans masculine person stop a physical attack between two men? Is it safe for a lesbian of color to speak up about co-occurring assaults revolving around race and sexual orientation? This show delves into bystander apathy and how and when individuals find the agency to speak up.

Dancer (2006) has been performed at The Transfabulous Conference in London, The Wow Café Theater in NY, Sex Worker Literati in NY and Swarthmore College as well as other venues. Dancer Is a performance piece about a dyke who travels to Hawaii for the summer and finds herself stranded. With no place to stay, no money to eat, no one she knows and no jobs to be had, she must be a “Dancer”. Tattooed, masculine presenting, and dancing for “interesting” tourists, the dyke continues to question her gender identity. He transitions in the middle of it all and issues of internalized oppression, sexuality and body image emerge. “Dancer” will prove to be funny, enlightening, political and extremely sexy.

Lágrimas de Cocodrilo / Crocodile Tears (2002) has been performed at The Sexual Assault Centre of McGill Students' Society, The University of North Texas, University of Michigan, University of Pittsburgh, SUNY Oswego, Harvard University, Grand Valley State, Charis Bookstore in Atlanta,GA, LaSalle University, The College of the Holy Cross Worcester and other venues.
How does a single mother survive the lingering nightmare of childhood sexual abuse and find inner peace? Lágrimas de Cocodrilo/ Crocodile Tears is a brief experience, into spoken word activist Ignacio Rivera's tale of survival via skits and poetic monologues. This show takes you into a journey of their struggle with female-on-female childhood sexual abuse & incest, understanding their queerness and raising a female child in the midst of recovery.
